Which was a very fucking bad idea. That's not how you treat the goddamn protagonist's love interest at all. The series is ultimately mediocre, but at least was possible to enjoy until far later when things just deteriorate. The oversaturated focus on Naruto and Sasuke completely just killed it. Chunin Exam for all the shit it gets, at least gave everyone their own attention.
