I think i found it modestly enjoyable near the beginning, and somewhat funny but not all that compelling.
I remember thinking the House of Evolution story dragged, though Saitama revealing his training regime was great.
But somewhere around the giant meteor or Sea King arc, it got really good, and managed to be both funny and oddly sort of exciting.

I wouldn't call it a gem... However there aren't too many manga with such a simple and interesting setting this entertaining. It's definitely worth reading.
I usually don't read a lot of manga and only read OPM because the rating was decent and there weren't too many chapters out so far, so OPM may be suited especially well for people like myself.

it took him 2 panels to reach there, let's assume these are 2 seconds
so in one second he flew roughly 192,200km
that is 64% of lightspeed
considering there is a character who is suppose to be able to go lightspeed(even though he never showed such speed) who isn't saitama, i would say that is very likely.
