This looks like a mix between Inferno Cop and Musashi Gundoh. Yet there are still going to be people who take the show seriously and criticize it for the lack of logic or stupid plot. The manga has salarymen in power suits who hunt bio-enhanced sumo fighters just to get their tumors, you should leave logic at the front door.

The thing that surprised me when I went to Japan in August is just how popular Ninja Slayer is even without an anime. Hell, I even picked up a Ninja Slayer doujin at Comiket (it's all-ages, basically a NS vs Archer vs Strider fight. Wish I picked up a Kikokugai one). So, if nothing else, this show might be a success simply because it promotes all the existing merchandise.

why would they show that off in a trailer? besides, I wouldn't imagine an Amemiya-directed show really looking like that promotional art.
assuming this is what the show will look like after all: the color choices are really fucking odd and I don't know what to think of them. they just feel... too overdone and unnatural, especially with those light-green highlights. that shade of red is also very garish; it looks looks like the default MSPaint red.
I also don't really care for the backgrounds.
maybe it's too early to judge the style based purely on that footage. perhaps it might grow on me depending on how it's used in the show in the long run.
I won't really be super-hyped for this, but I'm very curious what Akira Amemiya will do as series director. I'd rather have seen an Ootsuka-directed Trigger series, but Amemiya should definitely work towards getting a more personal voice in the industry. he's done some cool stuff but overall he's struck me as more just a sum of his influences than a special individual figure a la Sushio, Yoshinari, Imaishi etc. but (I assume??) he's younger than all those guys so maybe he can 'discover himself' here.

you can have super eye-catching, unrealistic colors that still look natural in a way. Dead Leaves and Panty & Stocking mostly did it very well.
I'm not sure how that Ninja Slayer scene could be fixed; I lowered the saturation but now the green just sticks out more.

I love how Ninja Slayer is basically the result of a Japanese author creating a parody work of how americans view anime and delivering it through an elaborate ruse that actually convinced people that it was actually written by americans. It's fucking awesome, also getting some serious late 90s vibes from the designs and art style which I also love. Definitely watching this one.

It's not. Pose to pose is a wildly imaginative animation technique. Good animation is an illusion thatallows your mind to fill in the blank space and percieve motion. Things animated in the particular style you're criticizing are actually far more technical and impressive than your average movement with a high framerate, as the timing and weight have to be perfect in it s execution.

It doesn't take any skill to put loads of in-betweens in your animation, finding the good key poses and the right timing and spacing is way more difficult.
The crazy shit japanese animators does in that regard never cease to amaze me.
Smoother doesn't necesseraly means better. It's a different style of animation.
