why doesnt /a/ buy their anime? do you really hate anime this much that you cannot support it?
>>
Because I rather buy figures.
>>
Buying anime is stupid unless it comes with a really, really good bonus. Otherwise, manga and other goods are a better purchase.
>>
>>117981583
i cant afford the ridiculous prices that they charge for my Chinese cartoons
>>
The resolution sucks dick, so I can't be sure, but that better not be localized shit.

I don't buy anime because there's only a few series I actually want to own and I already own them. Buying figures and manga is more my thing.

Because it will be the same on my hard drive either way, probably better subs too.

Every once in a while if I find something exceptionally cheap I'll buy it if it interests me. If I were to start buying everything i watched it would cost way too fucking much.

I have a small apartment, almost Japanese tier, and don't have space for a lot of physical media. I have a CR subscription and watch some stuff legally on netflix.

Vanity. You're not going to live 300 years, and you're not going to rewatch 1/10th of that shit.

Plus, buying western licenced shit isn't "supporting the industry". It's supporting the jews standing between you and the industry (that does not care about you anyway but sells licences to waito piggu biz for a few extra bucks).

>>
I do own a few series. But it's pretty much limited to 9/10+ series. For the most part, I'd just rather get toys/statues. Toys are my biggest non-anime hobby anyway, so that just suits me better. Plus, a lot of fan subs are better/easier to use anyway, so even with the BDs, I tend to use fansubs.

I will admit though, that I did have a bit of a phase where I bought a few DVDs out of some misplaced sense of duty. I felt guilty for pirating the anime and not supporting the series in any way, plus I just had poor impulse control at the time in general. I don't regret them, but it does make my collection look kind of weird - it's only my absolute favorites for most eras, but for 2000-2010 series, all of a sudden a lot more 7/10 shows are present.

torrents are faster

pay to download, or need to use some third party extension to direct rip

typically poor quality without membership

There is no reason to stream anything ever;

old stuff? Get the complete release with DVD quality with extras, dual audio (if you're into that), multiple sub options, OVAs

new stuff? Grab it 12-24 hours after release; the specific time where stream rate are shit because of high traffic

>adblocker plus

adblocker is

A. useless; whitelisting

B. destructive; info collection

I'm a middle manager at a multi-channel marketing company, I'm not a technical person whatsoever, but I or anyone in my industry can tell you adblocker, major DNSBLs, major email client filter (verizon, gmail, etc...) algorithms are a joke; because you just become an 'approved partner', and my client's unsolicited offer is in your inbox and on the side of the webpage you're looking at.

There are teams of professionals working around the clock to foster business relationships to legally circumvent ad prevention systems and software, to stress-test existing systems to devise delivery methods which can penetrate them, and in a less legal sense; anytime you use shit like that you're running a massive risk of basically handing over all your shit in a graylist situation (in layman's terms a graylist is when you "click here to no longer receive messages" and arrived on an optout list, so fine, you wont get any more from that advertiser; per can-spam and do not call, they can be sued if you do get more; however that list is a list of active (non dead, non spamtrap, etc...) prospects which can easily be sold to another agency.

You can't win against this. Even if you think you're winning, you're not; fighting it is either accomplishing nothing or hurting you in the long run.

you clearly completely missed the point; whether that was intentional cherry picking to "oh I'll show him" or you didn't grasp the big picture is beyond me.

"The overwhelming majority of prospects are 'casuals' and as far as view and click generation go the industry on the whole is stronger than ever"

congratulations on your grandma not using email for anything other than personal correspondence, or you simply knowing to just set mailbox rules so it blackholes instead of bouncing.

'by the numbers' you don't matter. It's the billions of people with dozens of social media and shopping accounts who clicked on surveys for this and that.

And I don't believe this was a discussion about email spam; it was about adblocker. these 'third party' things aren't out there for the sake of goodwill, and what I was saying is if you don't know enough about it yourself, getting a black box that claims to address can be useless or potentially harmful.

They are called API's not 'catch all' and yes they are actually they are the most used form of computer software in the World from chrome, to safari, to android etc they are built off pre-existing software in order to add functionality. Right now we have this wierd mix where there are services that stream to you and products that are still physical.
I think companies would prefer streaming because they could eliminate the second hand market and keep the prices high. People like Scott Miller (look him up if you don't know him) believe that by 2020 or so even gaming will be totally digital.
I believe he is wrong and the next step is probably going to take at least 15 years.
USB's and Micro SD's are not the nicest form of media to casuals so It will be interesting to see what replaces BluRay. That said I think it will be more discs as there is already technology to have over 100GB on a single layer disc now

One: being that fucking no one has a 4K TV or monitor
Two: being the speeds and whatnot. Apparently they can transmit in full 4K fine but it's not well versed terrority
>>
>>117992159
I understand the concern of preventing unregulated distribution; but they really ARE obsolete at this point.

I still buy music sometimes because I've been meaning to get a 3.5mm enabled dash stereo in my car for the past 4 or 5 years but just 'haven't got around to it', before we derail this thread again with a discussion on alternate options, I've tried radio transmitters of varying quality and price and they simply don't work consistently.

But honestly, as far as my home computer goes; I don't believe I've even opened the CD tray in it other than to install MS Office when I first bought it, and to burn audio CDs and that's a good 2-3 years ago.

I have a blu-ray player, which I have used literally ONCE for when I ordered Jackass 3d from netflix when it came out, and never again since (cancelled my netflix order dvd bit, still have stream)

Do people still use cds, dvds and bluray at all?

I know they still sell them at stores; but everything can be tivoed, streamed (netflix), on demand, or digitally purchased (for software), or torrented.

I get that there are concerns with a usb system; so that itself probably isn't going to be the solution, but the current system is just so... pointless, there has to be a better way, or nobody except collectors or the EXTREMELY unsavvy buys visual media in disc format to the best of my knowledge

Idk about that, most of the things I watch with my friends are live events (sports mainly), and with my exgf anyways we had netflix in bed all the time, or something tivoed or on demand

What are you, in 10th grade?

Vinyl fucking blows.
1. It's not digital, it's physical.
Vinyl deteriorates. You have to make sure it doesn't warp, that the vinyl player itself doesn't damage the disc, and last of all, you have to have a decent sound system to connect to that fucking dinosaur.
>b- but that there's a vinyl player that uses a laser to read the vinyl that won't damage the disc
yeah if you have thousands of dollars to spend on a Japanese machine you fucktard

2. You probably won't be getting any NEW vinyls because older music is so much better. But, buying used discs ALSO fucking blows. why? Because you don't know their condition unless you place it and listen to it. Sure, a lot of places will let you do that but you're going to be listening to an entire disc listening carefully for crackles. You can spot warping just by pulling it out, which is simple. But it's highly unlikely that ACTUAL collectors leave mint-condition vinyl for asshats like you to pick up.

If you have the money, time and patience to pick vinyl collecting up as a hobby; go nuts. But if you don't know jack shit about what you're talking about, you can fuck right off.

Pretty much any decent digital audio (i.e. FLAC) with a decent amp and a decent pair of headphones will most likely be of higher quality than anything you'll be able to produce.

>Loser Tier: Anime BDs
Anime BD episodes are most of the time, a HUGE improvement. They don't just pack the TV releases, upscale it then distribute them.

Fixed/improved animation, brightened action sequences, and better audio is shit? Once again, fuck off.
>>
>>117992881
brah did you write a serious explanation of why vinyls are obsolete?

what about vhs? you know it has the a hard durable plastic shell to protect the fragile tape from things like scratches which modern discs are prone to; and it's the true way films were meant to be watched.

I try to buy physical copies when I can, but the high prices and limited distribution make it difficult and impractical most of the time.

Plus I use my Crunchyroll subscription to support the creators (albeit indirectly) as much as I can.

Yeah, 'brah'. Because you're a fucking idiot.

Film is actually superior to any form of digital video. That's that. Why? Because it's not limited to pixels, a size limitation or data storage limitations.

That's fucking smart because that's the way it should be. But going to a theater to fully experience fucking sucks. Why? Because people that are sitting next or around you suck. People fucking suck. You fucking suck.

But no one has access to those high-powered light projector, an expensive lens nor the thousands-of-pounds heavy film to fully appreciate it in the comfort of your own home.

VHS tried to bring that experience into normal households, and it did a great damn job. VHS is fucking great. A lot of remastered versions of shows came from original, 1st edition VHS copies.

The reason VHS itself didn't do so well in terms of quality is because in each generation of film that was copied, the quality in video and audio deteriorated significantly.

Listen to the difference between the 1st and 2nd generation. The 2nd generation is pretty close what we, the consumers at the time could buy. Because our technology was only limited to that.
