True story: my parents disowned me because I'm an otaku. They're still pissed about WWII and shit, even though they were born in the 60s.
It's pretty egotistical of someone to think that their parents actually care about what television they watch. If they work they're trying to provide for loved ones, if they're retired they're relaxing after the years they've spent working. The last thing that concerns them is the watching habits of their child.
If they did care they would be incredibly insecure about their parenting.

They don't care and they actually liked some of the anime i showed them, but their english isn't very good so they can't keep up with the subs. They said they would probably watch it if they were able to follow along fast enough.

When I have Kurisu besides Sinanju, Celty besides the Joker, and Naoto besides Gollum it really helps hide the less socially acceptable aspects of the hobby
