The worst thing about them skipping the contract is that it makes Frederika completely fucking pointless. The story would be exactly the same if she had never joined their party. All she has done is instantly get removed whenever anything important happens, and be a glorified boat once.
If they don't do the contract scene all she does is add more instances of crap writing where they have to work around having an overpowered character in their party.
I've probably watched the first season around 20 times at this point (mostly in the background while I'm doing other stuff). This season though, idk it just doesn't have the magic that the first one did. I think I just enjoyed the slow pace of the first season a lot more than this plot heavy season.

Something is going to happen to force Toru into the contract with Fredrika, it's going to be spur of the moment and probably less than 5 minutes of pure bad ass goodness. Toru of course will solo the action because the anime hates the LN and throws out almost all team work.
Gaz will fall easily due to the over powered abilities of a dragoon knight.
Toru, after sustaining too much damage from battle along with Fredrika say their final words to Akari and white Chaika.
Akari, unable to battle at the time witnesses the death of everyone she loves around her. Still determined to live, she leaves and lives a long life of solitude.
White chaika could not beat to be alone, she commits suicide.
Vivi get married to Gilette. However, one day in their new house Gillette cuts his neck with a shitty razor, due to the fact that he is not using the best a man can get. This wound proves to be fatal and he dies.
Everyone else Vivi new died as well. She commits suicide because she is shit.
In the end, the true winner is red Chaika. She lives on with a happy life, married to David and has multiple children. The brown girl dies too, because she is a shit.
