Getting Alpha Sapphire since I originally got Sapphire as a kid. Kyogre got the shittiest boosts though. No increase in speed and only nullifying a type it already effectively 4x resisted while Groudon gets immunity to water and Rayquaza just became ungodly powerful.

There's some talk about alternate time-lines at the end and in the new game, maybe it'll play a part. According to Emerald only Sapphire used the control stone in R/S, meaning time-fuckery caused some odd shit to happen at the end.

Trainer customization wasn't removed, it was a feature only in the France region since that's the fashion and cafe region. It was never intended to be in every region from this point on, or at least it won't be in this remake. Still wasn't removed though.

it was a reveal in the story itself that May didn't know it was a hat until the second to last volume, because under the hat was a secret that linked those two together from years prior. Ruby covers it up since he's still self-conscious of it, as it was the event that basically fucked up his life in several ways. At the end of R/S he revealed the truth, but at the end of the story and further into Emerald he's pretending it never happened still, as Sapphire is confused. Whether this is due to shifting time-line or because he's just playing coy is not revealed.
The new design will have his hair coming down from the hat from the start and so showing that it is indeed a hat. He will even take it off during contests, but the difference between such an event for Ruby and the game character holds a very different meaning.
Ruby at the moment is still playing it one way or another, either way he'll be forced to face it because of the new design along with the scar underneath. Sapphire and Ruby are still slightly avoiding this subject.
This is even the part where it's first revealed that it's a hat.

She didn't catch a glimpse of the scar there, or else she would have known ahead of time, not to mention the hat was rolled up slightly on the wrong side to have been able to see something like that. That was her realizing it was a hat, as strange as it sounds.
She commented on how his hair was white before that part if I recall in reference to such a thing, which is why her staring meant something.
Saying it was her seeing the scar ahead of time would not fit at that point in the story.

People sure like whining about it at least. It was still never going to be something for every gen from now on in the first place, not every region in the middle of nowhere Osaka is going to have special beauty parlors and all the latest trends. There's a reason that was in the France region.
Matsuda went on a trip several places in the world, and based certain games off places he enjoyed. Unova was basically America, or at least the New York region. It had elements and features that reflected this. Kalos was France, it wasn't even subtle with how many things reflected this, and the different things unique to that region.
Every region though has different things unique to that place, that fit that place. It's like complaining how Poke-star studios isn't in every game from now on.
