How does E-ink tablets compare with normal LCD tablets for reading manga?

Heard e-ink is more closer to paper and also has less eye strain.

Pic related.
Now only choice for 6.8 inch Android e-reader is Onyx Boox T68. Kobo Aura HD also is 6.8 inch but use Linux. Other e-ink tablets have smaller screens.

Forgot to include T68 pic.
Company literally use manga for their ad.

I've got an ipad (i know) and I can read manga on it all day without affecting my eyes. If you can use your phone all day I see no reason why you should get a specialized tablet just for your eyes.

they're all so ugly with the big ass logos

Nexus 9 - terrible idea or excellent tablet?

And should I wait for the price to drop?

terrible

google is now over priced shit, if you don't mind the lower res screen get a Dell Venue 8 Pro, cheaper and better on everything but the screen res

Nvidia shield.

What is anon's experience with it?

install flux on it, it will make reading on it better

I read that the iPad Mini 3 isn't much of a bump up from the 2, is this true? Might get a refurb Mini 2 if cash allows

The air 2 looks like a beast based on publish specs and benchmarks so far, but 10" might be too big for comfy manga reading

get a real tablet
>>
>>117121375
I have an android tablet and I'm not terribly impressed, especially since kitkat randomly eats icons in the launch bar and home screen. It's ok, but just ok.

And fuck byuing a windows tablet. iOS and android are the only two worth considering.
>>
>>117116930
Most E-Ink readers that I use aren't much good for reading manga. And tablets are just pricey toys.

Most are tiny even with only single page and double page becomes microscopic. Until they make e-ink feel like a real book, I think I'll just stick with paper.
>>
I have a Nook HD+. It's large, looks just like what you see on a computer but not like paper.
>>

When will Sony be good again?

>Kobo Aura HD also is 6.8 inch but use Linux.
Why is that bad? I'll take mcomix over any shitty reader Android has to offer.

W8.1 X86 tablets are the best right now, can do anything a iOS and Android tablet can do and also run normal PC software
>>
>>117121871
never again, they are selling their computer division and rumours is the mobile one is next
Xperia Z tablets are quite nice though, and water resistance means fapping in the thub with them is possible
>>
>>117122570
but that's the thing, I don't want to run windows or regular PC software on a tablet. I have a laptop that does that a hell of a lot better than any tablet does.

I don't really want 15GB of Windows install clogging up the already cramped internal storage when android and iOS can do tablet stuff better while only weighing ~1GB.
>>
>>117121186
I am interested as well.
>>
>>117122748
but you are fine for paying out of the ass for a much more less capable device, even in raw processing power for having a shiny apple logo on the back right?
>>
>>117122748
most W8 tablets come with 64gb, premium ones go up to 500gb, also USB 3.0 ports and micro SD card slots are there to expand internal memory, although the last two are something droids are starting to have too

>terrible
>google is now over priced shit
Let's go through the stats.

-Google Nexus 7 Market Price: $190-$210
1920x1200 Resolution; 324 PPI
OS: Android
- Dell Venue 8 Pro Market Price: $200
1200x800 Resolution; 189 PPI
OS :Windows
-Samsung Galaxy 3 Tablet Market Price: $150
600 x 1024 Resolution; ~170 PPI
OS: Android
iPad mini (7 inch tablet) Market Price: $220 - $250
1024x768 Resolution: 163 PPI
OS: iOS

It maybe just be the Nexus/AndroidFag in me but I'm failing to see how you think that Google is now over priced shit as compared to all the other competitors on the market right now.
Also, not only was the tablet you suggested lower in screen res (as you stated), it ran for the same retail price as a Nexus 7 2013 edition. Not only that, but it also runs Windows OS. I really don't need to say anything more about that.

>>117121573
The only competitors in the Google Play store right now are MangaRock, MangaGalaxy, and MyMangaReader. Personally, I like MangaRock the most because of it's great format and large library, which hosts Batoto. If you know a better app, I'd love to hear it.

>>117121123
Honestly, it's what ever you feel like getting but I can give you several more reasons why Nexus 7 is (in my opinion) superior to others.
>>
Any iosbros here? VLC got removed from the appstore, looking for a good replacement if anyone has one.
>>
>>117122846
>even in raw processing power
The Air 2 with its tri-core A8X is neck and neck with bay trail stuff. The A8X is an ARM SoC that's designed as if it were a desktop CPU instead of a mobile one, giving it a great deal more punch than most ARM SoCs. The Air 2 smokes the freshly-released Nexus 9 for instance.

A8X is 64-bit too whereas Bay Trail tablets are 32-bit, and lighting is a far better connector than flimsy micro-USB (can't wait for USB 3 type C).
>>
>>117123115
It's overpriced compared to the Nokia N1.
>>
>>117123115
Nexus is over 200 bucks for a 32gb version
Dell is 200 bucks for a 64gb version and a much better CPU, and if you just hate windows, Atoms can run android too
>>
>>117123203
Who needs this for watching stupid cartoons? The Z2 tablet and Z3 devices has longer battery life and that's more important

>Honestly, it's what ever you feel like getting but I can give you several more reasons why Nexus 7 is (in my opinion) superior to others.

Is it not too slow now for most day to day tasks?
>>
>>117123203
Atom CPUs are 64bits, if you want to uprade to 64 W8 you can
this aint new either, ever since the first atom you could run 64bit OSs on it

Windows tablets usually have full blown USB3.0 plugs, not micro USB
>>
>have first gen nexus 7
>screen got a crack in half
>touch no longer works
>new display is half the price of a brand new one

t-thanks
>>
>>117123327
blame asus, they always pull shit like that
>>
>>117123203
can you master on a iPad? no its usb is only as a slave device for something else
meanwhile Windows and Android can be master devices and even use USB peripherals
and if you into gaming, W8 can work with DS4 and 360 controllers out of the box, while Android Z tablets are compatible with DS3 and DS4 controllers out of the box
meanwhile you are stuck with those shitty BT controllers for iOS that cost way more than any decent controller wile having shit quality control
>>
>>117123313
I've never had any problems with crashing if that's what you're referring to. I don't really understand what you're trying to ask though.
>>
>>117123596
Is the 2013 Nexus 7's specs still good for every day use? Or is it too slow and too laggy?
>>
>>117123665
I still have the 2012 and it's still good for anything but 3d gaymen
>>
I have a kindle from a couple of generations ago and the problem with it is the resolution and refresh rate. Might be fine when you're reading a novel, but you go through manga pages quicker and it's like being in a not-quite-fast-enough connection. It's also not that suitable for high detail manga with fine shading, like Blade of the Immortal.

If e-ink displays are more responsive, have better resolution, and more color/shade precision then they'd be amazing. But right now they're not ready yet.
>>
>>117123788
Ahhh thanks good anon!
>>
>>117123590
but once again, why would I do any of that on a tablet? especially any kind of gaming that takes a controller... there's a cornucopia of USB, RF, and BT controllers that all work great with my PC and will continue to do so for the forseeable future.

I'd much rather pair a PS3/PS4 dualshock with my 15" laptop instead of a tablet with a tiny 10" or 7" screen.

I can't even see plugging a thumb drive or hard drive into a tablet, having shit protuding from the thing while using it would be annoying as fuck
