I just picked the anime yesterday, and though I like it, it gave me the impression this is the type of story to tiptoe around the status-quo for ages. Am I wrong?

I never liked Shinka, personally. She doesn't have nearly as good of a body as Sento does (no KyoAni girl does) and her personality was always just annoying to me, even if she got better.

She's also rather hard to read since her expressions more often than not tell very little, same as her behaviour since she's rather stoic.

Really? I find her rather easy to read. Yes, she's stoic but she does show a great amount of personality and emotion despite that. She's one of the easier to read characters of her type, and one of the best in terms of execution.

Sento's just a royal guard and her family has always pressured her to be one best she can be. her only drama is her confidence in herself the arranged marriage problem goes to Lafifca the tucker dude is the hero who killed a dragon to marry her but the father backed out of the deal on the promise so he cursed her to forget her memories and lose her powers little by little every year. The current conflict in the novels is to find a way to fix the parks huge financial issues and break Lafifia's curse before it ultimately kills her. By the time the park is saved she already loses her year's worth of memories.

It's a very pretty-looking and enjoyable anime, but it's also rather shallow and standard SoL with some minor mystery elements. The mystery elements don't make it "smart and intelligent". Especially not considering the show goes out of its way to perfectly explain the mystery and the solution in standard anime fare.
