TBF it's used as a climax far too much to the shows detriment. This is the 4th time already. For comparison the first fight against soon to be Mejin ocured in episode 5 of the original.
They should really stop using it full stop. There's things called combo's kicks and host of other moves, it's extremely lazy choregraphy. For as much as it was complained the first season it wasn't half as bad as this. There was more of a fight before the one hit ko punch/

Except almost every fight in the regionals ended with them hitting their opponent once in the first season.
And yes, the beam rifles were shown to be one hit KOs because Build strike uses a VSRB as a regular rifle. The only opponents they didn't OHKO that I can remember from the first several episodes that I can remember were Yuuki and Sazaki. Even Sumo died in a single hit once they got close enough to hit him with the beam saber.
