Wrong premise. It's not a real formula, since the constituent elements and results are quite distinct in each as well as most of their respective creative teams. The similarities are purely superficial. When you compare the actual content of each series, the differences are relatively huge.
All they have in common is the fact there's some amount of craziness or wackiness, but the ways this is accomplished and the degrees involved vary considerably from project to project.
Which is why I think you also suffer from some historical ignorance or myopia. If you wanted an honest and accurate answer, then the actual precedent would be the Sunrise robot shows made by Yoshiyuki Tomino back in the day. They were also very different, but also sometimes had crazy or zany elements.
By the way, Cross Ange is more like an alternative version of Mai-Hime as interpreted through Fukuda wanting to challenge the limits of Japanese late night TV broadcast standards. He was even publicly complaining about them a few months ago.
Valvrave was Okouchi being hired by Aniplex to do something halfway between Gundam and Code Geass yet lacking all of Taniguchi's methods and the core ideas about how to make it work.
Code Geass was Taniguchi and co. wanting to make something entertaining for a wide audience, where the insanity and mix of elements would be broadly appealing while simultaneously having a core of interesting contents beneath.

Guilty Crown does copy some rough elements from Code Geass but the feel was also different. It tried to be a darker and edgier Evangelion meets Eureka 7 but fell flat.

But if you actually count up all the "rough elements " it copies, it's kind of jarring. Guy meets mysterious girl, girl gives him powers, joins terrorist group to fight oppressive foreign regime, takes over a school as a base,at the end something tragic happens to MC, although the blindness thing in GC was total bullshit[\spoiler], and even the title is just CG flipped.

I genuinely miss the show. S1 was wacky, S2 had a lot of promise. Everything getting rushed in the end (including the final boss mecha looking far less intimidating) took the steam off the show.

Inaho is obviously l-efl. A cold, logical and methodical thinker who is an ace at combat. Slaine is Haruto, an over emotional person who acts on impulse, and doesn't think. The only difference being Inaho and Slaine don't have 1/10th of the charisma of their counterparts, and are drawn worse as well

Yeah, that's not a citation and proves exactly the opposite. It's more likely for him to be Takahi's descendant than Shoko and L-Elf descendant. There's no way he would have L-Elf's exact hair unless he was his son himself or had inherited his runes. Since L-Elf isn't immortal and can't be his father centuries later the only option is the second one.
