Have you tried torrented mkv's? I'm running Asus's own version of the Nexus platform, their memo HD 7, and can't get the subtitle files to display. I've tried at least four of the most downloaded media players.

I can run mkvs perfectly fine on my Nexus, same one OP has, through MX player.
>>
>>115565681
Deadfish encodes work well, you can natively run AVI and MP4 most of the time. MKV player will play mkvs obviously, can't remember if that one displays subtitles or not.

uTorrent works like a charm though.
>>

Other than ones with native build as listed in the database, there is RenPy builder for android.

For some reason all RenPy games I've tried on my W7 tablet burn through battery faster than 10bit videos or 3D games unless I manually throttle CPU to 400MHz.

I don't really luke tablets but they do seem great foe vn's.
I've played a few vn's and games that are text heavy to the point of basically veing vn's like corpse party, and the ability to lie in bed while playing makes them so much easier to actually finish.

Still, there is something magical about playing them on pc but it's hard to get hooked without enormous breaks between games for me.
>>
>>115565823
I tried that one. I'll need to look into this a bit more, could be a platform specific issue. Anyone watching torrents successfully on the Asus Memo HD 7 series?

Google "Visual Novels on Tablet" and follow the FuwaNovel link. I used that and it works perfectly.

The real question is why would you want to? I can sort of understand things like >>115566003 said about lying in bed, but I have a really nice monitor and almost never leave the house. Why would I play video/VNs on an inferior system? I always find it weird when I see people on the bus watching videos on their tiny little phone screens.
>>
>>115567430
>>115567705
The issue is i've never played a visual novel before (besides the Phoenix Wright games and 999). I actually don't want to watch anime on a device but wouldn't a visual novel be nicer on a tablet?

If I wanted to play Fate/Zero, Ever 17, or Saya No Uta would it be as easy as downloading these apps, downloading the visual novels, and drag and drop?

Anyway, I feel like playing VNs is annoying on a tablet, it's too big to lay down in bed like you would with a phone, and you get tired of holding the tablet to play the VN. In my opinion, laptops are better for VNs.

gonna be honest, the keyboard on the 540 is not the best, and some you will have to learn to really hit HARD on its keys to be able to write without having to go back and fix misspellings because one key didn't register
however you don't really get better physical keyboards on anything up to 12in in size both in tablets and laptops, 15 and up is when the keyboards start to get good again, and by that size, just get a ultrabook instead

Windows tablets are terrible because they either are part of a race to the bottom to create the cheapest devices possible or ludicrously expensive. The cheap ones all come with shitty screens, crappy build quality, and underpowered processors that can barely run Windows smoothly. Not to mention that the experience of using Windows on a tablet is even more excruciating than the experience of using Windows in general. The thought of being able to run "full Windows programs" on your tablet might seem appealing at first, but then the combination of the terribly small screens and the lack of a physical keyboard end up making the endeavor pointless. Most Windows programs aren't designed with touch input in mind, and even the most basic tasks become a huge chore to do with your fingers, especially on small 8 and 10 inch screens.

On the other end we have the expensive options that also have a myriad of other issues. Lack of expandability and repairability. Constant overheating or thermal throttling. Simply being too bulky and heavy to be able to be used as a tablet comfortably. And the price in general. You're looking at over $1000 for most devices in this category. The Surface Pro 3 starts at $799, and is a pretty decent device, but you also need to spend $129 on a keyboard cover if you want to use it for something other than content consumption. Everything other option is way worse. They simply aren't at a competitive price point compared to other options.

It works, but the quality could be better. Also, I'm getting some problems with the touchscreen, but I might have fucked up somewhere when messing with the config.

get up with times grandpa
weak CPUs are not a problem ever since Atom Z3740, there are people running Dark Souls 2 on these CPUs on low settings with stable framerates
there are several models with physical keyboards
10inch is not small, is around the same size most netbooks, and if you REALLY need huge screens, the Yoga exist for that, though enjoy carrying around a 16 inch tablet, or even worse those sony 20inch tablets

for programs that are not touch friendly like old Windows 2k software and stuff is better mouse driven there are mouse emulators that make an area of the screen behave like a laptop touchpad, driving a cursor

over heating is not a problem anymore either
neither is weight
Dell 8pro is cheaper than a Nexus 7, and its not even the cheapest of its configuration if you don't mind getting no name brands, shit can get as cheap as 100 bucks if you go Chinese

Surface pro 3 is a good machine, but if you want something with a physical keyboard on the same specs, there are models like the sony VAIO SVD13223CXB that have keyboards

update that pasta, anon

Someone with a Snapdragon 800. Anything higher should be fine.
>>
>>115571755
It sounds like you want a laptop. You should get a laptop, not a tablet.
>>
>>115571389
too big, I have an 5in phone and I already think is way too big sometimes
>>
>>115571563
>>115571700
Turns out, the image freezes if I cloce my laptop (no PC), even if I change my energy settings.

That sucks.
>>
>>115571900
Why not something that can be a tablet when you want to just consume media and a laptop when you want to do work, and its more portable and lighter than a normal laptop?
>>
>>115571982
try connecting your laptop via HDMI to a TV and then turn off the TV
the laptop screen should go on and off again, while keeping the rest active
>>
>>115571988
Because laptops are already portable enough. If you're going to be carrying a laptop around, you're going to have a backpack. A 8 or 10 inch tablet + a retarded keyboard case or something will not be any portable than a laptop in that situation.

I read Fate for the first time on my Nexus 7, I don't know if VNDS fix it already, but the Realta Nua patch didn't work before. I didn't even realize about that until last year and I had to read the three routes again in my desktop to be able to watch the new shit. Also, effects and zoom don't work in Android.

Asus A100, LG 11t540
both with built in keyboards and more portable than a laptop

anon, I have a laptop that I carried around all the time, ever since getting this, I haven't touched it in months, the only trade out I have up was the HDD space and the raw hardware power, as an atom CPU is much weaker than an i5, but the most I play on this is old games and some emulators, so its not that bad of a trade
>>
>>115572063
Hey, it's working. Good thing I tend to hpok my laptop to my TV all the time. Thanks.

from the thumbnail, the girl on the right appears to have ginormous tits with pasties over the nips
So I clicked
I was disappointed
>>
>>115572228
You must have had some shitty xbox hueg /v/ tier Alienware gaymen laptop or something then. Most modern laptops are perfectly portable. The extra inch or two and or extra lb won't make a noticeable difference in a backpack compared to a tablet.
>>
>>115571755
If I want something to multitasks with and use more programs that are less power consuming, do I need a ThinkPad 8 tier one or is a Venue Pro 8/ASUS one good enough?
>>
>>115572471
>multitasking on a 8 inch screen
>>
>>115572326
16in, which is pretty much the standard size for a normal laptop and around 3 to 4lbs in weight, with an amazing battery life of 3 to 4h at most and if I only do text edition

now compare that with a 10in, 10h battery life that weights 1lb and its thinner than just the monitor part of my laptop
which do you think is the most portable one?
>>
You could also just use something that streams your PC to your tablet and play literally any VN that way.
>>
>>115572563
It's not my fault you decided to buy some /v/ tier gaymen behemoth.
>>
>>115572471
if you really want to do multi tasking I suggest something bigger than 8in
10 inch is the minimum to do multi tasking and Im talking about 2 windows, maybe 3 at most in the screen
I would not recommend the 8pro if you want to multi task, maybe the Asus t100 if you don't mind the plug in keyboard (it does have an extra battery and HDD inside though)
>>
>>115572714
The Asus t100 does not have an extra battery within the keyboard. In fact it actually has worse battery life with the keyboard plugged in since it has to power both the keyboard and the hard drive now.
>>
>>115572506
I need a tablet to jump to a reference book, then back to a hand writing program, back to another reference program.
>>
>>115572647
its not a gaymen laptop, it was actually more marketed as a media consumption laptop when it was for sale, it can barely run modern games on low settings
its not a behemoth, most basic 16in laptops are around the same specs, dimensions and weight as it
the only interesting part of it is that it came with a BD burner for some odd reason, also a SuiCa card reader
>>
>>115572780
That's not multitasking. That's just switching programs.
>>
>>115572714
>>115572506
My bad. What I meant by multitasking is switching in between programs when they are maximized in a way that does not take a minute to reload everything.

>All these faggots who would rather use that buggy piece of shit called VNDS than the glory Splashtop 2 where you can just start the game on the pc without any compatibily issues, high FPS and adjustable resolution
>>
>>115572780
Buy samsung's stuff
>>
>>115572830
oh, then the 8 pro should be ok
>>
>>115572825
My bad. I am looking for a tablet that can open a pdf without too long of a loading time, while running OneNote in the back ground, and the ability to switch easily between them.

is the Dell Pro 8 or ASUS Vivotab tier of tablets enough for that or should I aim for the ThinkPad tier?

Use Freedom apk if you're rooted to get Steins;Gate for free on Android.

Did you know what Splashtop did to us?

The original Splashtop 1 cost money to buy. So the original customers bought it. Then lol and behold, the company switched to Splashtop 2, made it free, and made the original buyers pay extra just to access the same function they paid for.
