It is officially announced today on October 5 at the Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten 2014 (Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival) event in Akihabara that the upcoming Durarara!!×2 TV anime will be a 3-cour project. The first cour titled "承" (Shou) is, as previously announced, scheduled for January 2015, then the second cour "転" (Ten) for July 2015, the third cour "結" (Ketsu) for January 2016.
"起承転結" (ki-shou-ten-ketsu) is the four-part organization of Chinese and Japanese narratives. So the 24-episode 1st season, which was aired from January to June 2010, presumably takes the part of "起" (Ki) in the four characters.
At the event, four additional voice cast for the second season are also announced as below:

Yuuki Ono as Chikage Rokujo
Kappei Yamaguchi as Mizuki Akabayashi

Any time a western publisher takes suggestions for new series to license I throw the Baccano novels out there. Though the only response I've seen is "Too many books, too long, we want to to a shorter LN series or manga"

I think they should be fine. Really the only long story arcs are in volumes 5-6 and 10-13. The other novels could fit into maybe 4 to 6 episodes/ Volume 9 especially doesn't need many episodes strictly devoted to it since it's almost all exposition on Shinra and Izaya's backstory.
