So many things about this fight.
The music.
The animation.
The coloring.
The art.
The sound when Archer disappears.
The inaudible "Trace On" that was there for no other reason than pure fanservice.
The blades breaking and disappearing only to be replaced by new ones.
This is right up there with the Ilya/Saber fight for best animated Type Moon battle.
This is my only complaint about the fight.

I'd say watching Carnival Phantasm is more vital than Prisma Ilya. Prisma Ilya fleshes out the backstory a lot, but it's not really necessary. Dropping straight into F/SN without watching Carnival Phantasm would be like jumping into the deep end of the pool, you'd have no idea what's going on.

That's incorrect, the purpose of her being away was so that she could give birth to a proper heir. She had to be forcefully converted into a Matou, but Zouken had no hopes for her in this war. All of his hopes were on what she gives birth to, and molding that into his perfect killer.
She was the test product that went through some shit to be molded, and thus was a bit out of tune, while the real one he makes was the one he was going for. This out of tune nature though gave birth to a real monster in one route. There's a reason he didn't bother getting involved in two routes of the game, since he had no hope for it.
