Yes, pic unrelated. The hard parts of Mahoyo are really the endless magic infodumps in the second half, the absurd amount of completely unconnected foreshadowing for future games, some advanced grammar usage and eking out the context of dialogue if you're unfamiliar with reading unvoiced works.
There are also a few plot crucial sections that are basically 'fuck everything' tier near the end, but I don't think I saved any of those.
The fights also have some really crazy writing that can get to be a pain to read.

I just don't think that was a very well made piece to begin with. I like the idea of a piano version of This Illusion, but just like, listen to it from a technical stand point. The piano sounds mechanical and basic; no real embellishments or taking advantage of the instrument, and it really shows how simple the core melody is. The chords are chunky as hell too; the orchestration as a whole isn't too great. I know it's synth, but you can put a little extra effort in there. Really it feels like a rough draft.
My biggest problem with the 2012 version of Ever Present Feeling is that the flute is pushed way the fuck back, and that's one of the best parts of the tune.

If you want my advice, don't attempt something like Mahoyo for a while because you will get very frustrated and probably not understand any of it.
Then once you've got a hang for reading stuff you can go and try to read stuff like Mahoyo, which you will still struggle with immensely.

Yes, basically. You need an understanding of grammar to read anything, and it will consistently evolve into better understandings and more and more detailed comprehension. With the advent of ITH/TA it makes learning and retaining vocabulary a lot easier while reading. You can switch to J-J dictionaries whenever you feel comfortable, but you probably don't need to worry about that for a while.
If you just stick with it and read/study everyday you will eventually get the hang of it and be on your way to reading all sorts of kamige, it really is that simple.
Then when you think you finally have a decent grasp on Japanese, you can try reading something by the likes of Masada and get wrecked like I did last night.
