That episode was great though, and one of the highlights of the show for me personally. Either way I can see why they thought it was a good idea to implement it, and they argued for it quite well in that thing that was printed.
But I had already read F/SN and F/Z, so to get something that was actually new and actually added new content, as opposed to just seeing yet another part re-told, was a highlight to me provided how it was sparingly used.
I am probably going to enjoy those tiny bits Nasu mentioned that he wrote for the UBW anime too.

People discuss that shit because MoS gets so much attention, not because of the ending's merits. That's not to say it would never, ever get discussed if it weren't for what happened to Sakura, though. I suspect it would come up every once in awhile. After all, it's the only bad end I can think of where Shirou survives and keeps fighting. I can see that generating some interest from time to time. But Sakura is definitely the reason it's as big as it is in these threads.

I love Saber and consider her an amazingly strong character, but you do have to recognize this is after she's clashed with the Gate of Babylon five times (Gil does not have Knowledge of Respect and Harmony, so yes, familiarity with the Gate diminishes its effectiveness, even if only slightly because the danger is the unknown weapons more than the explosive arrows themselves) AND is armed with her most powerful noble phantasm, and Gil is unaware of that fact (which, in servant battles, is how Noble Phantasms are meant to be used).
