Now to start off, Shidou is transported in the past and he must do something, but he doesn't know. There are two things he could do: save Origami's parents or convince her it's not her fault that she killed them (in other words, letting her kill her parents).
Here's the thing: if he saves her parents, everything in his present timeline might get erased, Origami might not be a spirit in this new timeline, he might NEVER meet Tohka or any of the other spirits. But if he lets the parents die, everything in the present timeline should be preserved. However, he CAN'T talk her out of it because she's in deep shit.
The only problem I have with this is what kind of timeline the author is using. Is it linear or circular? To recap, child Origami saw her parents disappear in a pillar of light, forming the grudge she had with spirits. She was given power and became the one thing she wants to kill, got sent back in time, and accidentally shot a beam of light, the very same beam of light that killed her parents. This is a loop. And breaking it might do a lot.

The loop is obviously circular, what reason would future Origami have to attack Phantom and to kill her parents 5 years ago? Unless she "had" to as if it were governed by something. But wouldn't that mean that something is governing all these effects? If so, even if Shidou is able to go back and "change the timeline", that would all part of something bigger, it's not he should be to change what's governed. That's my biggest gripe about this time travel business. If he goes back, he should be able to learn something to put it to use.
