I watched 26 episodes of this when I decided to watch anime like a maniac back in 2008.
I figured I should go for some generic shows that everybody watched. The drawing style was pretty much the only indicator for me. I thought the general interest in anime online would be the older stuff. I was confused that 4chan barely cared when I visited for the first time about a year later.

I downloaded all the OPs and EDs way back in the day, and they will come up on my shuffle, so I have never forgotten.

For some reason, I still remember that one episode (S2, was it?) where Ranpha runs off to get married while Volcott forces the other girls to combine into the giant robot that always fucks up at the end of the song.

So who played the games here?
I think I've played the original trilogy three times total, and with a lot of dictionary help, managed to play through one route of the first GAII game, but ended up not making it through the second one because it not being as good as the first one plus my shit moonrunes skill killed my motivation.

Well, the first one was pretty good, but then Tact is mostly absent for the second one and it's just a lot more boring.
To be fair, Moonlit Lovers was also the weakest of the originals and then Eternal Lovers was amazing, and I hear the same holds true for the second trilogy, but it's been hard for me to find the motivation to keep going.
Doesn't help that I haven't practiced my moonrunes and months and have probably forgotten everything by now.

I went with Lily through the 2nd trilogy and then Anise while I'm still one the other's routes in the 2nd game. Coco being annoyingly weak was pretty damn annoying when you think about all the shit she went through beforehand.
She does indeed get better and becomes a hell of a lot more likable as it goes on. Lily's route is an offshoot of the other routes since Roselle won't try to get up in your grill. In case of that, you get the funniest route in the game.
I'd say keep going.

Ah that sucks. The one thing I hated about the 2nd game is that it takes dreadfully long to finish a route while the final game has a neat feature where you can select a chapter and pick a girl of your choice once you beat the game at least once.
I'd say wait a bit and get back into it, there's still a story to be told and the 2nd game's final fight is my favorite fight in the entire series.
And when said Tapio and Coco get better, I really mean it By the final game, I absolutely loved the two moreso than some of the main cast.

The Galaxy Angel anime was supposed to be a adaptation of the games with actual plot. Delays happened and the anime production just ran with the basic character trait sheet they got.
Somehow it worked and later down the line, same thing happened with the Rune series.
They weren't so lucky there. But the games are better. Then again, as if anyone would bother getting them
The thing that always impressed me about GA is how many budget saving techniques they used and how many bottle episode and gimmick plots they could come up with. I think across the whole series they've used just about every premise for character hijinks ever devised.

Seeing as SRW plots are held together by duct tape, I can see something set in the middle of Eonia's rebellion. Instead of fleeing to Rhome, they end up using Chrono Drive elsewhere and are diverted to the Earth Sphere. Most of the first GA was just them being chased around by Eonia's forces, so they'd probably play a supporting role in the overall story while the whole team just gets attacked by unmanned ships every once in a while, and eventually leave temporarily in a route split for when they go to the White Moon for the Chrono Break Cannon.
Voltes V pilots can all be swapped out for the Angels as a secret bonus, as well as Vanilla being able to pilot Mazinger Z. Domon Kasshu and Ranpha end up being bros, while Milfuelle and Akito from Nadesico bond over cooking.
It would be fucking glorious.
