So /a/, what are you watching made before the year of Our Lord, 2000?

I watched Taro the Dragon Boy, a 1979 Toei movie directed by Isao Takahata. It was pretty sweet and had some great art, especially the the hand-painted backgrounds. Otherwise I'm still working on Future Boy Conan and City Hunter.

I watched DYRL today
>>
The Saturday anime block on Sci-Fi so a lot of Macross, Gundam, Record of Lodoss War, then a bunch of movies. I never had a chance to not like anime.
>>
Today I watched the first episode of Mobile Suit Gundam, from 1979.

This is gonna be a long, long ride.

ZZ gundam. After seeing /m/ haters and fanboys going at it over ZZ, I now find myself solidly in the middle ground.
>>
>>113166974
It's a good ride. Stick with it.

>>113167098
Are the subs good throughout? I heard they're HKs after a certain point.

The subs for Lupin don't do it enough justice after 79 or so episodes, but I already have an idea as to what is being said and how it could be subbed better. It's still very entertaining, and I'm going to watch the third series once I finish the second. I'm about 112 episodes in. Only need a few more to go.

Utena's subs are better, but could use some improvements in my opinion. Still, it's very entertaining.
>>
Watched some old child porn.

>>113165984
Taro the Dragon Boy was not directed by Takahata, it was directed by Kiriro Urayama.

That's a shame. I've been going pretty slowly with the series. I loved Green Jacket, but the first few episodes of Red Jacket just haven't done it for me. Too bad Daisuki is only streaming the dub. We may have gotten improved subs like with did with ZZ if not.

>>113167553
Ah, my bad. Seems like Takahata was just the original creator. Thanks for the correction.
>>
>>113167532
>>113167586
Horus was pretty good too. I watched it a week or so ago. Convinced a friend to give it a shot today. It's really interesting just how much Takahata and Miyazaki go back to it in their later works. Furture Boy Conan's first episode is especially similar.

I've been slowly going through part 2 for months now in between all the other stuff I watch. I hear "comfy" getting tossed around a lot these days, and I'd dare say that Lupin is the very definition of such a show, an supremely easy watch that you can hop back into and enjoy whenever the mood should strike. And I can't wait for the Jigen movie to come out.
>>
>>113167717
I don't think the dub is too bad, it does have it's moments, but try to stick through it. There are some episodes that are too entertaining not to watch. I really enjoyed episode 99.

I did too. I didn't think it was too different tonally from Green Jacket or even Mamo. I really like the designs too. Bought the RAH Lupin because of it.

>>113166039

Just finshed NEXT.

The final episodes are all fucking brilliant.

Currently on episode 3 of this (tv series). Hasn't really caught m attention so far, but it's certainly entertaining enough for me to be curious about where it's going.
>>
>>113168187
I like the RAH. I have Lupin & Fujiko figs by Banpresto but not that lovely RAH unfortunately. I also have a Green jacket and Jigen revoltech.

The tone in beginning of the first series is more adult/weird due to the original director who was later replaced. The first manga is also more adult/weird than some of the anime adaptations. I personally like the different styles, both adult and family friendly.

>>113168323
I tried finding this everywhere. It looks like something I would enjoy.

If only there were good Shin-Chan dubs too. I loved what episodes I watched, horrible subs won't stop me from enjoying it. Still, it's a shame that almost all of the subs are terrible.
>>
Watching Giant Robo for the first time, 4/7 episodes will probably finish tomorrow. Loving it so far, but I feel like they unnecessarily killed off way too many characters in episode 4.
>>
>>113166842
It and SDF Macross are great. I'm not sure which one I like better. Even with all its QUALITY, SDF is great.
>>
>>113168634
I got lucky and watched them all on YouTube before they got taken down. great fucking series. the OP's and ED's are so god damn catchy.
>>
>>113168853
Lucky dog.
I loved some of the OP/ED for Shin-Chan. I gotta find more of those.

If you want to pick up the RAH, BigBadToyStore has him for around $200. He's a great figure. I still need to pick up the Revoltechs.

And yeah, it's nice to see the different styles in Lupin. I think I prefer the more mature Lupin, Oosumi's direction especially, but it's all good. "One Chance to Breakout" is my favorite episode of anything Lupin. I wish the manga was fully scanned. The English releases go for ridiculous prices.

>>113168634
>I tried finding this everywhere. It looks like something I would enjoy.
It's all on BakaBT.
>>
>>113169114
I definitely prefer the adult Lupin, but I loved the Miyazaki directed episodes and his film debut, but I do admit that The Mystery of Mamo is great too.

Wasn't that site recently taken down?
I know a lot of torrent sites were taken down.
That, or I went on there, found it complete, but it had no seeders.

Is there any guide to watching shin-chan on the current internet?
>>
>>113167170
ZZ is great.
>>
>>113169260
Na, BakaBT is still up. It should have seeders too. Make sure the torrent application you are using is compatible with the tracker. A lot of people have issues with that and BakaBT.

I re-watched Gundam Wing, and loved it, and Endless Waltz, which I hated. What does this mean?
