Heh... strange memories on this nervous night on /a/. Two months since KLK aired? Three? It seems like a lifetime, or at least a Main Era - the kind of peak that never comes again. The KLK threads back then, I think, were a very special time and place to be a part of. Maybe they meant something. Maybe not, in the long run... but no explanation, no mix of words or images or memories can touch that sense of knowing that you were there and alive in that corner of time and space on the internet, whatever it meant...
There was madness in any direction, at any hour. If not after the stream, then after the preview or subs or down in the CYOAs to the drawthreads or hell even the Nui threads...You could strike sparks anywhere. And despite all the flak we got, there was a fantastic universal sense that whatever we were doing was right, that we were winning...
And that, I think, was the handle - that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of the Old and Busted. Not in any mean or militant "waifu war" sense; we didn’t need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting - on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave.
So now, less than six months later, you can walk into any KLK thread on /a/ or /c/ or /tg/, and with the right kind of eyes, you can almost see the high-water mark - that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

I wouldn't say I like her, but I certainly appreciate her contribution to the show. Tl;dr she's the character you love to hate:
The long version is that she was everything Ryuko was not; girly, sophisticated, fancy, won fights with almost no effort, uncaring toward others, etc. She was jarring to the point that she looked like she belonged in an entirely different show, tossed a wrench into everything we'd come to expect. As her despicable acts piled up; killing Ryuko's father, denying Uzu the rematch we all wanted to see at the time, driving Ryuko to madness, disguising herself to trick Ryuko, shredding Senketsu, and so on, our hatred of her grew to it's peak. Then finally, after so many episodes of her getting away with all this bullshit, including one time she was going to lose but got bailed out by Ragyo, we finally got that comeuppance: She lost her arms, the perfect little princess demeanor was irreparably shattered, it was her turn to have a breakdown, and it was so, so satisfying.
