I chose not to watch the anime many years ago and I forgot to check out the games when they were translating recently.

All I know about Galaxy Angel stems from those newgrounds.com flashes and Sago-Jou's futa doujinshi.

What am I missing out on?
>>
>>111850632
I consider anime one of the funniest series to be ever made. Apparently it was supposed to be based off the games that actually had plot but miscommunication just had the anime studio making it a comedy and it pulled it off greatly. The Rune anime with the second generation of girls did pretty bad.

The games are a light-hearted but plot focused series of games that span 6 games. They are all direct sequels so massive amounts of character moments.

A lot. I haven't played that newgrounds game in years, but if I remember right the angels aren't like their anime/game counterparts. Normad is still a wisecracking stuffed animal though. Pic semi-related.

[citation needed]

The anime came first, so I doubt they'd release a game adaptation before the actual games were even released. Should this actually be true though, that would be hilarious.

GA is indeed one of the funniest shows out there.

They had the game in development and the anime to follow it I believe. Then a little delay in the games made the anime studio with no source material to actually work with other than general character traits

Why is Rune so charmless?
What's with the washed-out colors?
I thought they'd fix the animation errors for the DVDs but it still looks fairly crap.
>>
>>111852245
Should that be true, makes me wonder what a Galaxy Angel anime would have been like had they gone with adapting the games.

Delicious cel animation blowing up loli-Death Star. It would be problematic if they had to choose a route, unless they just go with Milfie, which is what I'd expect them to do.

>>111852910
You know, I've been thinking about actually watching Rune just to see it, but I know all that lies ahead is disappointment compared to the games.

I went through the first VN expecting things. I got absolutely fucking nothing. It's like taking cute girls doing cute things, watering it down with gallons and gallons of... water, then disposing of the mix and just putting water in a jar and presenting it to the reader.
Of course those were simpler times, but god damnit. I'd be okay if it were from the early-mid 90s, but it isn't.
That fledgling voice cast, though.

Looking at the thread's pics, it looks like the show may be passable at least. Maybe I'll check it out someday.

It helps to know the characters to appreciate the game
>>
>>111863027
I don't think so, Anon. Things don't happen just for knowing the characters.
I mean, sure, it may help, but in my eyes it could at most turn a once-cent game into a two-cent one. Jesus Christ, so generic. It doesn't even deserve a name. Just call it "moe in space."
Not saying it's actively off-putting, but the lack of appeal left me disconcerted.
>>
>>111864068
What I'm saying is that the game is definitely not for someone new to the series. Familiarizing yourself with the characters in the anime outright tell you that the series is rarely serious and is usually about screwing around.

It's definitely generic but it's really for the fans.

I never knew she was in this show. The fact that I haven't watched Milky Holmes yet has been bugging me with all the good things I hear about it. Sawashiro is just icing on the cake now.

>>111864068
No, he's really right. The plot is fairly standard, but the characters and their interactions make the game amazing because it's so comfy. Especially if you see the differences in their personalities between the show and games. Also, Moonlit Lovers and Eternal Lovers in my opinion are better in terms of individual routes for the most part. Especially Mint's in Eternal.

If you're not into comfy shows, you probably won't really care for that though.

Milky Holmes is like Digi Charat on steroids. In other words, there aren't any serious moments/episodes like in GA and the episodic plots are pretty crazy, but as a comedy it's far superior.
I still wonder how J.C Staff managed to pull off a show like this while doing three other series (Bakuman, Otome Youkai Zakuro and Index II) during the same season.

>The fact that I haven't watched Milky Holmes yet has been bugging me with all the good things I hear about it.
It's the closest thing GA has to a spiritual successor with the fact that it's:
>about cute girls doing dumb things
>a comedy solely because their games were delayed until after the anime's premiere
>has Miyuki Sawashiro (Mint), Yukari Tamura (Ranpha) and Ryoko Shintani (Milfeulle)
>>
>>111866408
I'm speaking about her anime play.
That was mindblowing, even though I loved her in the game and she showed some of those royal yet ridiculously high pitched voice too, but what she did in the anime starting the second season is my favorite ever voice acting.
>>
>>111866308

>>
>>111866479

>>
>>111866308
>but she can't ever get back to that pitch again.

Are you talking specifically for Mint, or just into the higher pitch of voices? Because her Broccoli (Puchiko) in Neptunia sounds just like Her Puchiko from Di Gi Charat to me, and her voice in that PyururikuPyururiku Milky Holmes clip sounded the same too. Or maybe I just need to listen a little closer?

I think that she just has a very large range of voices.

Oh, I find the easiest way to deal with them is to focus them down one at a time

In the mission he's referring to, I think it's the highspeed frigates Sherry has around

There's no bonuses for cleared game data, that stuff is in the second series.

You get to choose which Angel you ended up with at the beginning of the sequels

So Official Artbook 1 was found pretty easily enough. Then the regular artbook on the first game was pretty easy to find.

Angel II and Angel III be might as well be bought online. Individual scans exist, but I'm an all or nothing sort of person when it comes to this

I remember buying the manga of all three GA series. Then I get to Rune and loltranslationnever happens. Now I'll never get to finish the manga ;_;
