I used to have a lot more (all of FMA, Rosario + Vampire, and 17 volumes of D.Gray-man) but I sold most of it. I also have a few more that I didn't include, most of which are misc. volumes I bought in high school, nothing that's worth showing off.
I love the old Viz releases from the late 80s/early 90s. I have every Cobra release, as well as all of the volumes of Venger Robo (the first volume of Getter Robo Go, not pictured). I'm planning of getting the Lum (Urusei Yatsura) release soon. I also have a few other misc. magazine releases from the 80s.The short manga Oni, by Go Nagai included.

The authors get royalties based on sales, probably not a lot but it's still something.
If you're buying from the US publishers, you're also supporting the original Japanese publishers since the two major US manga publishers are pretty much US branches of Kodansha (Kodansha Comics), Shueisha (Viz), and Shogakukan (Viz).

Vizbigs are good quality, the image quality is pretty sharp and the print quality is better than the regular trades.
If you want them you should probably snap them up while they're still in print, because they slip in and out of print and the price starts to skyrocket on the 2nd hand market. The middle Dragon Ball Z vizbigs were out of print for a couple of months and the price for them rose up to $100+ on Amazon Marketplace and eBay. Viz put the volumes back into print, but it's probably going to be the last time since they're angling to have the new - inferior - omnibuses replace the vizbig versions.

I think so far only the first one is censored (misprint I think). And they still haven't done a reprint. Though, given the sparse release schedule I doubt Viz gives a shit anymore.
The full color editions are super nice, but that's only the Saiyan arc and the dialogue still has Piccolo's goofy speaking pattern. And Popo's lips are still colored in black, but that will probably never change.

I live in the north and not London. Are you sure about this? When I asked the staff if they had any plans to open one in the UK they said the didn't know.
Anyway if you can't make out what that novel next to the Strike Witches book and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is it is Legend of the Galactic Heroes book four which I picked up for one dollar. First edition too I think.
