While Tokyo is fucking great (visited a couple weeks ago, metro is a miracle of the universe and so is all the cheap gourmet street food), the language barrier makes you feel like an out of place little shit after a while. Learn Japanese before living there or you're gonna have a bad time.

I moved to Japan last year. What a pain in the ass that was.
Not including the annoying immigration stuff it took me like 3 months to get a job, settle in a place and get adjusted to the vastly different area. Finding an apartment in Japan is a nightmare when you're a foreigner. It took me ages to find a place of my own, I had to stay with my friend for the longest time.
Japanese landlords are racist as fuck, I finally found a good place in a good neighborhood for a good price but it was a struggle. Also if you've never been to Japan before and you're not super proficient in the language, you will be confused as fuck. When I moved there I was fairly good at Japanese but I never actually spoke to people in Japanese before.
Learning the language and having to use to regularly and survive with it are entirely different things. Yeah it's rough when you're first going there, would not suggest unless you have a nice chunk of savings or some buddies to help you get adjusted.
That said now that I'm settled down I'm having a great time here and I will never go back to America ever, the barrier to entry is steep.

No not really. The slut level is definitely decreased significantly in Japan though but they're still there. They're about the same as anywhere else. It's definitely different in that the Japanese take working much much more serious than any American I've ever seen. You definitely don't want to be late or fuck around, you are punished for every discretion and they will make you remember it. Vacation time is about the same but a lot of guys just don't bother with them and keep working. I've taken short vacations with no issues though.
I would say it's definitely more 'soulless' and robotic just because of how serious the environment can be.
