Because Kickstarter is basically begging for money and those companies do not want to be known as begging for money. Besides, if a project is not good enough to attract a team of sponsors, then it was not worth doing as a profit-making project.
LWA2 is an "art for art's sake" project. The time spent creating LWA2 represents an opportunity cost that could have been spent on a profit-making project instead. Thus, most companies would not bother or even tell their staff not to take time off doing little boutique projects when they need to spend all their time making sure the studio's major projects have the best chance of success and thus revenue-sharing for the studio from whatever percentages they were able to negotiate as part of the Production Committee.
