K so I'm sorting through Monster Collection to upload it, but I just noticed Volume 6 page 8 seems missing from my original download.

Anyone have it?
What do.
>>
>>110182947
The sole purpose of this retarded chapters before volume shit is to be able to sort series where you don't know which chapters are from what volume and maybe idiotic distinction between tank and magazine scans. Outside of that it's completely pointless.
>>
>>110183119
>The forced distinction between tank and mag scans makes renaming old releases a chore

The forced (mag) is unfortunate, but it must exist to ensure that extra chapters always sort in the right place.

>especially for volume bundles that mix scan sources.

(mix) was added to the spec a while ago for mixed archives like this.

And yeah, renaming old stuff can definitely be a chore, but it's for a good cause.
>>
>>110183119
And that's the reason you can write (mix), instead of (mag) or (vol00). And there's plenty of reasons to make that distinction, the most important ones being redraws and quality.
I don't see how it's a chore, anyway, since it takes less than 10 seconds to rename a file, and if you don't know what you have (it should be obvious if you have covers or not anyway), you could always write (mag) just in case, and keep going.
>>110183253
>Outside of that it's completely pointless.
So... it's not pointless?
>>
>>110183253
No matter what you say, chapters before volumes is the only way to fulfill all the goals of the scheme listed in the document.
>>
>>110183371
One easy way to identify magazine scans (if the overall image quality doesn't give it away instantly) is to look at chapter end pages - if there's a lot of extra crap in the margins, chances are it's a magazine release.

Are you gonna upload them all yourself? I don't think so. If everyone does his part, this shouldn't be that hard. >>110184027
Get the fuck out.
>>
>>110184016
A single look in Complete folder should tell you why this scheme is stupid and redundant. And to name it properly you will have to go through each of them to add chapter numbers.

I think Daiz should do it himself.

>>110183989
Some trade-offs are inevitable to ensure proper sorting. But at least you can always add the "real" name of any specials as extra information where it won't affect sorting.

>>
>>110184482
If you consider spreading misinformations a good way to work, fine, but some people like to have things organized. You haven't even started thinking from the right end - page naming.

Have you noticed that there are folders for ongoing and complete manga? That's organization that comes as naturally as it can. It's only reasonable to expect that files will be reorganized when series gets completed and then the your naming becomes pain. Why don't you go and fix the names for all the completed manga to prove how superior your idea is?
>>

How is it spreading misinformation? It's placing the chapter in the right place where it should be, and you can have the "proper" name included as extra information too. I'd consider it a much bigger misinformation issue if it sorted into the wrong place.

How about changing the order from official? Again, I would call that a far bigger offense than adjusting the numbers somewhat so that it will always end up being in the right place.
>>
Is uploading 1.3 GB supposed to take 4 and a half hours
>>
>>110185490
How so? Put an example, please, because I'm not seeing it. You use the official numbers if there's any. If there isn't, then you use the chronological order of release. For special chapters, you use the last chapter and add a x1 (kinda like how some chapters are called 15.5, with this scheme, it would be called 15 x1). I don't see any guessing.

>>
>>110185835
Sorry, but if you name files with decimal chapter numbers or non-numbers, you're never, ever going to cover all the corner cases and will end up with incorrect sorting. This is a fact. The scheme might require adjusting things like "chapter 15.5" into c015 x1, but it does guarantee that things will always sort properly and end up in the right place.

Not him, but people used to have cbz associated with comic readers and zip with another program. It's same format, just different name.

But I mean, why are people going in and changing it in the ftp to .cbz? Or did they just upload them like that?

I wanted to read it, but forgot to download it.

Dorohedoro isn't zipped, but rather volume folders full of images.

Should someone take care of that?
I mean, sure you can just download the folders, but rather inconvenient.

And thanks to whoever uploaded Annarasumanara.

The sheer volume of material /a/ collectively has on their hard drives is dawning on me. There must be an archive of just about every anime, manga, book, and game out there.

There are no corner cases that lasts forever with old scheme and any corner case can be dealt with using same rules as you propose. The main difference is that when series is complete, it goes away if you use volume numbers like everybody ever.

Proving my ideas wrong is as simple as renaming everything on ftp to your scheme, isn't it?
>>
I think we should focus on rarer stuff, like Crunchy Roll/Jmanga/Comixology rips that haven't been posted yet.

>>
>>110186594
You're dumb. Yeah, your "system" works in the end... but is shit while the series isn't in tank (some never are), and even worse if you have to make a web or a program that reads and displays the files in an ordered and understandable manner (there's nothing that I hate more than when there's a chapter wrong sorted in a manga, and I realize it when I finish it).

And, yeah, proving you're wrong is as easy as that. And we're working on it. Just because you're a lazy faggot that doesn't want to cooperate doesn't mean everyone is.
>>
>>110186565
Some archmagus out there probably has GTO and Stardust Crusader scans that aren't godawful. The thought haunts me even now.
>>
>>110186752

Please, they don't rip everything, not to mention that they're not even up to date on a lot of stuff. Someone else had to rip the Takao Saito manga.

>there's nothing that I hate more than when there's a chapter wrong sorted in a manga, and I realize it when I finish it
You don't notice when plot gets broken? I think you have a bigger problem that naming.

It's not problem of naming anyway, it's caused because people can't organize shit they release or upload somewhere and that's won't get fixed by any scheme.

>Yeah, your "system" works in the end
Just for your information, it's not "my" system. Ordering releases in volume archives with volume number first is something that has been used consistently by every group and archival site since forever.

>Just because you're a lazy faggot that doesn't want to cooperate doesn't mean everyone is.
You will realize sooner or later that it's not about laziness , but how many corner cases you will have to resolve and what will you end up with..
>>
>>110187185

>You don't notice when plot gets broken? I think you have a bigger problem that naming.
Because all stories have linear storytelling, right?
> people can't organize shit they release or upload somewhere and that's won't get fixed by any scheme.
And that's the reason why we're trying to convince a few that they do it, so our work is lighter later, while you're completely unproductive.
>it's not "my" system
Ok, I should have said "the system you're talking about". Still, my point stands. The system is not good enough for this kind of site, no matter how long it has been used or by whom.
>You will realize sooner or later that it's not about laziness , but how many corner cases you will have to resolve and what will you end up with.
Come and tell me that after you've done something productive instead of complaining about something that you weren't gonna do anyway.

I propposed that for the folder filenames, as in:

but no one listened.

No, nothing aside these exist. You can look for printed copies in libraries/second-hand bookstores and then steal them for scanning purposes.
