I've actually thought about this a lot,
Heres what I've come up with that I thought would be pretty cool.
MC is quiet strong type.Episodes follow a formula like Casshern Sins or Cowboy Bebop following the adventures of MC.Eventually MC runs into 2 or 3 characters here and there that help string a long a story. Art style would be that of Casshern Sins meets Gurren Lagann (if that makes sense). It would only be about 13-16 episodes.It would have many characters dyingand coming back and invading the MCIt would also need to have a shit ton of atmosphere. The series would also be re watchable and every time you do re watch stuff makes more and more sense. MC also befriends another person ala Coop in the game and of course hediesIt would also need to be dark of course so many characters are sad and have tragic backstories of loss,rape and going hollow. And at the end everything is pointless and MC [spoilers] goes full hollow Meaning everything was for nothing.

I'll admit to not being very knowledgeable about the Lovecraft world, but from what little I understand, either world ending cataclysms happen frequently (so everyone dies, not a big deal), or only a few are absolutely mind-fucked by the happenings (meaning it's unlikely I'll be involved). Seems to me Dark Souls and Berserk contain a much higher risk of suffering.

Berserk is nothing like Dark Souls, aside from imagery. Berserk is a bunch of warriors traveling the land and bonding while fighting for gold & Glory. Dark Souls is a lone warrior wandering in the dark with no clear purpose, getting attacked by everything he sees. Sometimes he is joined by a single companion. Dark Souls isBlame!.
