That's probably where KLK falls apart, if you're not invested in the MC"s character arc, you'll suffer through large chunks of the show. Now that it's over, it really feels like they killed Senketsu for literally no reason.
It was sad for like, 10 seconds. Then you realize that there was no buildup whatsoever, no time spent on it, no significant development, etc.
I mean, if they wanted Ryuuko to wear other clothes and lose her god fiber powers all they had to do is leave him as a scarf or something. It honestly just feels like a really cheap attempt to get some extra emotional impact at the end.
If anything Senketsu burning up left me more bummed about the fact that it meant no possibility for a reconciled Nui. Maybe it was just her sweet-talking and theme song getting to me, but I think she was a better antagonist than Ragyo and one of the better characters overall.
