After 8 or so episodes, I'm not sure how I feel about the series.
It's clearly trying for a more seinen tone by killing off main characters but in every other respect it strikes me as a generic shonen.
Something I'm missing? Worth sticking it out?

Why do a lot of romance manga and anime end with things continuing being normal even when it's pretty obvious that they should end up together or something more should happen? Is there a law that you can't publish people starting a relationship?

It's not whether or not they end up together that you're really complaining about, it's that the ending isn't satisfying (sometimes as a result of that).
