Have fun OP, just remember all the default settings in Blender (for EVERYTHING, whether it's lights, world setting, materials, render settings) are all shit and you'll need to take the time to learn what they all do / mean before you end up with something nice looking.
Literally why the fuck would ANYONE use Blender when you can use the Educational license for Maya for free and learn the software that will actually get you a job and not completely fuck you up for working with other software.
It's like using GIMP. GIMP is so thoroughly fucked up that if you learn it you will not be able to use any other graphic software out there because GIMPs interface is such total shit.
Learn Blender and you're pretty much condemning yourself to work with only Blender for the rest of your life. Not only that but because Blender's UI is so utterly fucked you will fight tooth and nail against any efforts to improve it because you'll be terrified of having to learn something new.
