HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

also it depends on preference these days, id say go with blender because it just as good as the paid soft, also use luxrender.

Get yourself into Blender, it's a very good suite that is pretty good at all aspects of 3D stuff. Above all, it's free . . . .you don't have to download pirated Torrents, pay huge fees or get stuck with a limited 'free' student license.

Just do it.

THE "Best" does not exist.
Only in your head. You think you have to use the "best" tool, but whatever tool you use your work stays shitty until you get good. Because there is no correlation between the quality of your work and the tool.

Looking into modeling products in 3D. Pic related

Just the object. Different perspectives & lighting.
No animation.

What software should i use?

blender, modo, maya

all gud

Rhinoceros 3D is really good for product design ; creating with curves and nurbs, to creates the exact shape

How is a maya free student licence limited? Literally only prohibits your work to be sold.. which they wouldnt even notice/care because you're a nobody.
The fact that you need to put Blender being free as a pro speaks for itself.

>How is a maya free student licence limited?
I believe they only last for 4 years
You cannot sell anything you model.

You may have invested a lot of time and money with Maya (infact I doubt the latter is true) but Blender is a pretty good all-rounder, if OP want's to specialise in a certain aspect then another piece of software may be needed.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Would Modo be okay for a beginner? I saw some YouTube videos of someone working in Modo and it looked really neat. I mainly want to make stuff for Second Life.
>>
>>519009
I say depends on what you are actually doing. For animation, Maya and Cinema4d would do the job quite well. For architecture modeling and visualization, 3dsmax and rhino work great with Nurbs. For character modeling with extreme details go with Zbrush. Want to go all open source, work with Blender. If you do complex animation with scripting, learn Houdini. The best software is the one that you master and can finish the job in the shortest amount of time.

I was a max user and switched to Modo indie edition. It's cheap if you want a legal modeling package. It takes a bit of configuring like getting tools to auto resolve like other modeling packages, but it has all the features you need.

So? More than enough to get a job (which will likely ask for 3DS or Maya experience)... or just get another licence.
Yeah Blender is capable, its a good option for a hobby.

Why should I use Blender for a hobby when I can pirate Maya or 3dsMax in 10 minutes and be more happy?

Really? . .. . .you are not fooling anybody.

I don't know why everyone here isn't learning Houdini. It's the most powerful program ever

It's all about locking the user into a program. Why do you think Microsoft cares so little about people pirating Windows?
>>
>>519882
That's not how it works.

Shills would have to be employed and/or having a close relationship with Autodesk in order to be a shill and not someone having an opinion of which software is better.

And last I checked, Autodesk generates income when people buy their products, not pirating them.
