I haven't used google sketch up since version 5, but i believe if you want to copy something you'll need to take that entire side and then rotate it 90 degrees and then stitch it in.

i got it. i rotated the feature 90 degrees using the axis on the inside of the corner.

I've been learning how to use Inventor for non-3DCG purposes, and I'm wondering if CAD softwares are ever used to model interiors/props. It seems to hold an edge over maya/max for certain things thanks to the neat sketch and projection system.
