All I know is that cinema 4d will definitely kill maya and 3DS Max.
But its going to be a long time before industry standard maya gets switched for the 4D.

Eventually, yes. Probably 3-4 years from now, Max will be gone. You should archive a copy now, and a copy of an OS it runs on.

Anyone who says this knows fucking nothing about the way autodesk is structured. Maya is more likely going to get killed than Max ever will. Why? Because it plays more friendly with CAD. And CAD sells 10x as much as Maya does. Autodesk is more than 'entertainment'

You're completely ignorant to the fact that Autodesk is clearly pushing all serious development towards Maya. And playing nice with CAD means fuck all because Maya does too, Maya's NURBS system is much more robust than Max's and is easily interchangeable with other CAD software.
