USING MODO:
How do I create Material ID masks in modo WITHOUT manually selecting the colors?
I know the straightforward way would be to select the faces/meshes I want to be the same material, then apply the same material to them both, but there's GOT to be a faster way....
1. Close Modo
2. Open up 3ds Max or Maya

How do I do that in maya?
I still found myself having to assign colors manually.

theres a color ID pass you can add
>>504917
In maya or modo?
-But Still, how do I do it?

google color id pass then your program. either its in the program or there is a free script for it

I did.
Having modo do it on its own results in each mesh having their own color ID (which I don't want).
I can assign colors manually, but I'm looking for a FASTER way.

What in your mind is a faster way, if not automated by each mesh having a different color?

he clearly wants mind control input.
You could always check your command history, when you apply a color the command will appear there. You can append scripting to that command as a hotkey.
So say Ctrl + L = Change to this colour mask +1 r +1g +1b
You sounds like a lazy cunt doing something stupid though
